St Augustine Beach, FL

Updated: Jan 29, 2019

There are over 95,000 miles of beaches in the United States. St Augustine Beach has been consistently ranked among the top 10 beaches in the US by TripAdvisor's Traveler's Choice awards. Take a short 5 minute walk down a quiet, private road to reach the beautiful, sea oat-covered sand dunes and the pristine white sand of St Augustine Beach.

Breathtaking Sunrises!

Get up early and watch the sun rising over the ocean. The colors in the sky will take your breath away. If you get up early enough, you might spot a turtle laying eggs. Beginning in May, sea turtles begin to nest and lay their eggs on the shores of Anastasia Island. As endangered animals, the turtles and nests are protected by Federal Laws. Flashlights can disturb them and cause them to abandon their nesting efforts, so there are some local ordinances that restrict the use of flashlights & beachfront lights at night. The result is a beach with practically zero light pollution that is absolutely perfect for star gazing!

What makes it unique?

Did you know that in 2017, Florida legislation privatized many popular beaches in the state. Many of Florida's beach front lots became private beaches without public access. St Johns county was one of 3 Florida counties that was exempt from the law. All our beaches are open to the public. Outside the sea turtle nesting season, St John's county beaches allow 4WD vehicles to purchase beach access permits and drive their cars on the beach in designated areas. Surprisingly, our beaches are not overcrowded. It's not uncommon to go to the beach and see very few people at all. If you walk north of the pier, you can walk for miles on the secluded beaches of the Anastasia State Park and find all the best shells and shark teeth!
